When it comes to bringing comfort to our new born babies we will do almost anything. Mostly because we want to make sure that those babies sleep for the longest without waking up because a baby waking up and crying till they fall asleep is probably one of the most stressing things.
Baby Bjorn has been in existence since 1961 if not earlier, and till now their brand name is still popular. They make some of the best baby carriers one could ever own.

Baby Bjorn We
The BabyBjorn We is designed to be a safer, more supportive version of the BabyBjorn Original. It may lose points in certain testing because it is a bit uncomfortable for older babies and toddlers, but is very comfortable and works well with smaller babies.
It also lacks handy features like a sleeping hood or storage pocket. However, it has a low price point compared to other carriers we reviewed and provides similar functionality.
Compared to BabyBjorn’s other modern carrier, the Carrier One, the We performed much better in the Safety category, scoring a 7 of 10. The wide seat provides proper ergonomics for the baby’s hips and comes up high enough to give adequate support for the baby’s head and spine.
The carrying position is improved in this career as well, lifting the baby up, making it possible to kiss the top of the baby’s head while in a front carry. This adjustment adds support for both the baby and the wearer.
This carrier is comfortable for the wearer when using with a newborn/small infant, but less comfortable with older babies/toddlers, thus scoring a 4 of 10 here. However, you will be glad to see that it has a decently padded waistband as well as padded shoulder straps.
Although the waistband sits in the proper position, it doesn’t seem to distribute weight very well. You may experience strain in your shoulders when carrying heavier babies, although thankfully this isn’t as much of an issue when using it in the back carry position
Baby Bjorn One
If you’re not very experienced with baby carriers, then the Baby Bjorn Original Carrier may honestly be the best option for you. It can help you especially if you are a new parent and you have a newborn baby with you. It is honestly the best option as it will help you get comfortably used to the idea of carrying a baby on a carrier.
It’s simple in its design and meant for infants and smaller babies, so you won’t be wearing your toddler on your chest, and it offers two different positions in order to keep your baby as comfortable as possible.
While it does not provide the lumbar support band that Ergobaby has, it does have thick adjustable straps that criss-cross on your back to provide ample support while wearing your baby.
It has just a few buckles and straps to get used to when fastening and securing the carrier on your body, so it’s very user-friendly in that regard. Although it’s meant for smaller babies, that doesn’t mean that you won’t still be able to get months of use out of it before your little one grows out of it. This means that the adjustable head support will come in handy and keep your child comfortable even as he or she grows.
Even when you’re on your own with no outside help, the carrier is easy to get on and off. At a reasonably cheap price, it is meant to be used until the age of one for some children, you’ll likely get your money’s worth.
Unlike the Ergobaby, the Baby Bjorn also offers a front carrying facing out position, which is the most ideal for some babies. It’s also small and lightweight, so you can take it with you wherever you go without any inconvenient bulkiness.
The shoulder straps can sometimes dig into your shoulders in a way that’s especially uncomfortable over time. Since it’s meant for babies up to 25 pounds, you won’t be able to get used to it past your child’s first birthday. The leg openings allow for enough room for most babies, but there is no standard M-shaped position to promote healthy hip development.
Other features
- Positions: You can wear it as a front inward facing carrier or front facing out.
- Materials Used: The carrier is made from 100% cotton, much like the Ergobaby Original.
- Baby Bjorn Weight Limit: The Baby Bjorn is meant for babies from 8-25 pounds.
Types of carriers
Wraps: A super-long piece of stretchy fabric you configure and tie around your body, usually over your shoulders and around your midsection, to create a carrier.
Slings: A wide piece of fabric that goes over one shoulder and across your torso. It was mostly used back in the day, quite comfortable for some.
Structured Carriers: More like a backpack with straps over the shoulder and a padded carrying “pack” that can be placed on your chest or back. Also called Soft Structured Carriers, or SSCs.
Final Thoughts
A baby carrier is a basically a comfy “pouch-on-a-harness” that allows you a hands-free way of carrying your baby on your front, side or back, with the bonus of keeping your baby close.
Getting a carrier isn’t a necessity, you could still use a stroller when you’re out and about and a bouncy seat or swing at home. But a carrier is the only gadget that lets you do your own thing, hands-free, while your little one relaxes against you.
