It all depends on where you will be going swimming, just remember that you need to protect your feet.

Should I wear socks with water shoes?

Water shoes are designed to protect your feet. But at times, you may need an added layer of protection, and this is where you can return to wearing socks. Just make sure that they serve the same purpose as the shoes. They need to be waterproof and add on to the protection the shoes provide.

Can you swim in water shoes?

Swimming is an activity that needs you to wear the least amount of things. Some clothing items pose a danger to you. Shoes are in this category. It is not advisable to swim in shoes. However, there are special water shoes that you can swim in. They are the right weight and do not collect water in them which can weigh you down. It is important when considering going swimming in shoes, that, you wear the recommended water shoes. Water shoes are designed to resemble a second layer of skin and this makes them safe to use in water.

Should water shoes be tight?

Water shoes need to be just the right size. They should not be too tight as this will make them uncomfortable and can give rise to blisters. They should also not be too loose because they need to make sure that no water is lt in, otherwise it negates the reason for wearing them.

How do you take care of water shoes?

You can take care of your shoes by making sure they are cleaned after each use. Here is a step by step guide to help you keep them clean. The first thing to do is to always make sure you remove your shoes after you finish wearing them. Then you will want to rinse your shoes thoroughly with fresh warm water for approximately one minute. You can then wash them using shampoo, wetsuit soap, dishwashing liquid or hand soap. You can also put some baking soda into the water and also sprinkle some more on top of a sponge. Dampen the sponge for a while. Now you can release any moisture that remains inside the water shoes.

Clarks Girls’ City Spark T Low-Top Sneakers

For some reason, these are one of the first designs to come to mind when I think of girls’ shoes. Perhaps, that is down to a childhood memory. I don’t know. You will probably not be surprised to find that for toddlers these are often worn by boys as well. It is a classic design that we all will have come across in some form. The upper part of the shoes is made out of textile as is the shoes’ lining and the inner part of it. The outer material is synthetic. Gum rubber has been used to make the soles. That is a sure way to deliver traction on a variety of surfaces. There is a buckle to secure the foot in the shoe. It is a simple mechanism that most toddlers get their head around in little to no time.

One of our favourite things about this one is that they are lightweight. Not only can your child weigh them for massive portions of their day, but they can independently put them on and remove them. They are a tried and trusted design that we know from adult shoes. The width of the shoes is often an area of contention. We found these to be reasonably wide. To horn in on the idea of being somewhat unisex for toddlers, there are a variety of colours that they can choose from. Granted, most of them are what would traditionally be considered “girl colours”, there are some unisex options available.

Buyer’s Guide

Perhaps you are wondering what exactly you need to be asking yourself when it comes to choosing the perfect pair of shoes for your toddler.

What are toddler shoe sizes?

Shoes meant for toddlers are often marked with a ‘T’ for a toddler. And they go up to a size 7. For example, you will find shoes labelled 4T or 5T. This means it is a size 4 for a toddler or a size 5 for a toddler.

When should you buy a child’s first shoes?

Toddlers generally do not need proper shoes. They should be in the most minimalist shoes as is possible. Children need to walk in shoes that allow them to walk as close to the ground as possible. This allows their feet to grow and develop as they should. When your child can now walk well, you can look for proper shoes. Well, fitting shoes will help the child keep their balance and provide the stability they and support they need.

How do I choose my toddler’s shoes?

Your toddler’s shoes need to have some of the following characteristics.

They need to be a comfortable fit in length and width and have plenty of room for the toes. They should also have a flexible, flat sole. Make sure to check that the sole can bend near the toe. Make sure that the front of the shoe is wider than the heel, to match the natural shape of the foot. You also want the shoe to have a solid heel counter. This is the part that goes around the back of the heel. Also look for shoes that have laces, straps or fasteners to prevent too much movement or slipping of the foot inside the shoe.

How fast do toddlers outgrow shoes?

Children’s feet grow very fast. This is why it is not very wise to spend a lot of money on toddler’s shoes. It is normal for a child’s foot to grow between 1/2- and 3/4-inch per year. This growth can be erratic and if you were to measure your child’s feet every month, you may notice this change.

How do I measure my toddler’s feet?

Your first and most reliable option is to get measured by a professional. If you want to do this at home, it is also pretty simple. You will need a sheet of paper, a pencil or pen, and a tape measure or ruler. It is best to tape the paper to the floor so it doesn’t move. Stand your child on the paper and make sure they stand up straight. Mark the place where your Childs big toe is with a pencil or pen. When you have made the two marks you can then measure between to get the correct size. The next thing you want to do is to mark the back of the heel making sure the child’s foot stays in the same place for you to be able to measure between to get the correct size. If you are not entirely sure which size to go for, then go for a size bigger.

How much extra room should toddlers have in shoes?

No matter the age of the child, the size of the shoe, or the style, leave ½” of space between the end of the longest toe and the end of the inside of the shoe.

Final Thoughts

Your toddler is in the business of exploration. They want to get about their business and do so comfortably. The ball is now in your court. You need to know how to buy the best shoes for your toddler. We hope that our guide will help you do just that. Happy shopping!

Best School Shoes for Wide Feet

Are you looking for the best school shoes for your child with wide feet? Finding shoes for children with wide feet does not need to be difficult. You simply will need to consider a few factors. Most children generally have irregular looking feet. Remember that your little bundle of joy has feet that are still growing. This means that they have not reached their full potential. Being mindful of this will help you decide better.

Once you have established that your child does indeed have wide feet, you can now begin searching for shoes that will fit the child properly.  Ill-fitting shoes have their share of foot health problems which include blisters and sore feet. You simply need to know what to look for and what will make your child’s feet happy.

In a Hurry?

There are a couple of factors to consider when looking to buy shoes for children with wide feet. First of all, you will need to measure your child’s feet or have them measured. This way you will know exactly what width you need to get. Make sure the shoes fit and that there is a bit of wiggle room. You can use your thumb to measure thus distance and the amount of space left in the shoe.

As you go buy the shoes, make sure to go with the child, to avoid estimates. It also helps the child to wear the socks he or she will most probably be wearing the shoes. This way you do not get a false idea of the amount of space left in the shoe. A shoe that is too big can cause friction which in turn can cause blisters. You want to make sure that the shoes fit properly.

Vivobarefoot Reno Kids Leather School Shoe

The vivobarefoot Reno has become something of a rarity. We could not find it through the manufacturer. There are several reasons why that could be the case, but we will steer clear of speculation. Let us consider its features. The first thing that you will notice when you look at it is that it has dual cross straps that run over the top of it. These not only ensure a secure fit, but they also allow for the option to adjust the tightness of the shoes in a way that is difficult to achieve with shoelaces.

As you would expect of all shoes from this brand, the Reno is a flexible shoe that allows your foot to maintain its natural tread pattern. There are no constrictions that come from the shape or the design of the shoe. The upper part of the shoe is made out of wild hide leather. This his hide that comes from animals that have spent their lives under the sun. It is a strong material that does not tear easily. All of this sits on a thin rubber sole. It has small lugs that are designed to provide the user with great grip as they move. This is a zero drop, barefoot shoe. What makes it ideal for wide feet is its flexibility. Add this to the adjustable dual straps. They allow you to allow your feet as much or as little room as you would like.

Pros

  • The shoes are lightweight.
  • They provide a good grip.
  • They are easy to put on and remove.
  • The dual strap allows for space adjustment for a preferred fit.
  • They are quite durable.

Cons

  • They come at the higher end of the pricing scale.

Livie & Luca Kids’ Briar School Uniform Shoe

The Briar comes from a brand that we are not familiar with. It is a design that we have seen carried by other brands. This creates some immediate ease. The first thing that differentiates this shoe from others that are carried by different brands is the pattern that runs on the strap and across the top of the shoe. It brings some character to an otherwise plain shoe. Depending on how old your child is, this may be just beyond the age of being unisex. Let us consider some of the features that it has to offer.

The upper part of the shoe is made out of leather. There is minimal stitching involved. This usually means that there are fewer chances of a tear developing. The soles are made of rubber. From the interior, you will find that these shoes are breathable. They have a lining that has received antimicrobial treatment. This means the shoes will remain averse of odour for longer. The easy velcro closure makes putting the shoes on and subsequently removing them much easier. They also have a padded collar to offer some arch support. This is also a great feature to add some comfort. The minimalist nature of the shoes makes them perfect for uniform regulations. What makes them ideal for wide feet is that they have ample room at the front as well as in the midsole region.

Pros

  • The shoes give a fresh take to a common design.
  • They are well-stitched.
  • They are visibly durable.
  • Putting them on and removing them is simple.
  • They are also very comfortable.
  • The strap allows for fitting adjustments.

Cons

  • The soles could provide more grip, although this is not lacking much.

Stride Rite Claire Mary Jane (Toddler/Little Kid/Big Kid)

If you fancy the Mary Jane design, here is another one. The first thing that you may notice that would set this one apart from the others is its seemingly lightweight. That is not to say that it is the lightest shoe on our list. It is certainly one of the lighter ones. Perhaps “seemingly” is not the best way to put it. It is light and looks light. Others may be light but do not necessarily look it.

The upper part of the shoes is 100% leather. This gives you the peace of mind of knowing that it will last. The tread on the soles provides good traction and grip for your child when they are on the move. We all know how important this is for active children. The outsoles are non-marking. To give you that added bit of comfort, the collar of each shoe is padded. Another thing that we loved about this shoe is that the outsole is not only lightweight but incredibly flexible. It permits the child’s feet to move at will. Within the footbed is a memory foam insole.

To secure the feet in you have the hook and loop closure. This a mechanism that is very easy to operate. It is even better for those who do not like tying shoelaces, those like me. The seams of the shoe are tonal. There are no care requirements that are out of the ordinary.

Pros

  • The shoes are lightweight.
  • They have a hook and lock mechanism.
  • The outsoles provide a lot of grip.
  • There is a memory foam insole.
  • The upper is made of leather.
  • The shoes are very flexible.

Cons

  • There are some defective pairs reported.
  • Quality control could be better.

They run over the top of the shoe’s tongue. Underneath the upper is a synthetic insole. The shaft of the shoe measures about 4 inches from the arch.

Although they may not look it, these shoes are highly breathable. The velcro closure straps make them easier to put on and to remove. For those that are always on the move, the shock absorption sole and insole will be a godsend. They provide an extra buffer for safety and lessen the chances of injury. When you have these in your hands, you will be left with no doubt about the quality of workmanship. They are built on a patented Italian design. This is a shoe that is ideal for day to day use. Not only does it have temperature regulation as a core feature of the design, but it is also waterproof. The rubber soles are one of Geox’s main characteristics.

vivobarefoot Children’s Junior Wyn Black Leather School Shoe

Vivobarefoot was not around when I was dashing around classrooms and playgrounds, all those years ago. Having used them, I can say I would have been keen on a pair for school. Let us look at what kids today can look forward to from these shoes. The first thing that you will notice is that this is not a design that will stand out in any way. They have taken an old, familiar design and made it barefoot. That wear, the child can wear a shoe that they are familiar with, and experience a level of foot freedom that they may not be as familiar with. The aim of the design is to give them a natural feel as they move whether they wear it in school or elsewhere. They are amusingly flexible shoes that allow your feet absolute freedom of movement.

The upper part of the shoes is made out of wild hide leather. It is a very strong material that is synonymous with durability. It is a fairly simple design, that is capped off with a simple velcro strap bar. This is a very simple shoe fastening system that is secure. It ensures that the child does not have to struggle to get the shoes on and off.

The soles feature vivobarefoot’s own Pro5 layer. It is a patented, puncture resistance that ensures that not only can we be in touch with the ground, but are also safe while doing so. It is said to be more puncture resistant than a sole of standard thickness. The front of the shoes is slightly raised to protect the toes.

Pros

  • The shoes are very comfortable with or without socks.
  • They allow your child’s feet more natural movement.
  • There is no doubt as far as durability is concerned.
  • The design is simple and familiar.
  • The sole is incredibly puncture resistant.

Buyer’s Guide

There are various pertinent questions to ask yourself when choosing a pair of school shoes for children with wide feet. Children’s feet muscles keep developing throughout the first eighteen years of life. The feet must be allowed to be in as natural a state as possible. The feet have their way of grasping the ground and getting acclimatized to the ground beneath them. This way the feet provide the stability that is needed.

How do you clean black school shoes?

Black is the most common colour for school shoes, however, they can be one of the hardest colours to keep clean. There are however a few things that can be done to help make life easier. If the shoes are leather, use a damp cloth. Make sure it is not wet. This will help you remove any excess dirt. Now let them air dry away from a heat source. A good quality leather oil can then be worked into the shoes, this will protect against water damage and will prevent the leather from cracking.

If the shoes are suede, use a soft bristle brush to remove any excess dirt, avoid using water on suede as this will cause stains and can cause the colour to run.

How do you whiten school shoes?

White canvas shoes can be a problem, even after washing they can still seem a little off-colour. The first tool you will need in your arsenal is a toothbrush. It will help you target hard-to-reach smudges. Use it to scrub your white shoes with just warm water and soap, and you’ll likely make a quick difference to the condition of your shoes. If you have managed to get tougher stains on your shoes, you can use some household items like baking soda, bleach, baby powder, or even toothpaste. These can all potentially help you get your stained shoes white again.

Just make sure that you do not mix colours or put white shoes in the washing machine with the rest of the laundry. This can sometimes worsen stains.

Can you put school shoes in the washing machine?

It essentially depends on the material they are made of. Canvas shoes are the most likely candidates for this. They are the best bet for wearing during the hotter months because they allow the feet to breathe. The downside, however, is that they tend to get dirty quickly and will more often than not, need a wash. Because the material is soft, the temptation is to chuck them in the washing machine. This is perfectly fine, however, this can age the shoes more quickly. If the shoes are white, this is not advisable either.

Does baking soda and vinegar clean white shoes?

You can clean white shoes with a simple solution of baking soda mixed with water, using a toothbrush to work it into the shoe. Once this is done, it can be left for a few minutes before washing as you would before.

If you have vinegar, you can use it to clean your white shoes. To clean white shoes with baking soda: Combine one tablespoon of hot water, one tablespoon of white vinegar, and one tablespoon of baking soda. Mix until it reaches a paste-like consistency, and then use an old toothbrush to lather the mixture onto the canvas areas of your shoes

How do you dry school shoes?

Firstly it depends on the material the shoe is made of. Popping them into the dryer is not the best. It is best to allow the shoes to dry out naturally. Just make sure that they are not under direct heat. You do not want to damage your shoes.

Final Thoughts

Buyer’s Guide

There are quite a few factors to consider when looking to buy new school shoes for a child in elementary school. Remember that this is a very active age group.

What shoes are best for new walkers?

Your baby’s first steps may seem as if they are all entirely up to them. However, your baby has help from various factors. You may have noticed your baby grabbing onto different things to stand better and hence take their first steps. One of the most important things to remember is that your baby’s feet are still getting used to the new phenomenon of walking. This means that the muscles in the foot are still adapting to walking and how to grab the ground. The foot has its natural way of doing this. The best shoe, in this case, is one that allows the child’s foot as much contact with the ground. This means the less material there is between the child’s foot and the ground, the better. The best shoes for new walkers are shoes that do not create a synthetic environment but rather shoes that mould to the baby’s foot. Look for shoes that have a soft sole.

How long do Clarks guarantee shoes for?

Clarks has an unwavering one year guarantee. The shoe company prides itself on making quality shoes that can withstand everyday schoolwear for at least twelve months.

Can you return used shoes?

Several retail outlets across the world do not accept returns on shoes that have been worn. The first and most obvious reason being the hygiene aspect. The other reason being that our feet are shaped differently and the shoes we wear normally mold to our feet. This means the next wearer may think the shoe is warped because it does not fit them as it did the previous wearer. However, when it comes to returning policies, you must understand them before you make the purchase. Stores differ in how they handle returns.

When should a child start wearing shoes?

Shoes are meant to protect your feet as you walk. This means that the best time for your baby to need shoes is when he or she starts walking. And even then, make sure the shoes are minimalist. Before this, it is not necessary, but it is still cute!

How do I choose my toddler’s shoes?

When your baby starts moving around on his or her own, the best thing for the feet is to walk barefoot. However, when you need to leave the house this may be unwise. The dangers far outweigh the benefits. So which shoes do you choose?

The first thing you will need to do is get measured. This is so you make sure you get the right size. Online buying may seem convenient but when it comes to baby’s first shoes, you need to walk into the store and try them on. This way you get the child’s true size. Kid’s feet grow super fast so you may want to get them measured every two to three months or at least before you but the next pair. Make sure that your child is standing straight up when they are being measured.

As your child tries on different shoes, make sure that they are wearing the same type of socks they are likely to wear with the shoes. Make sure there is a bit of wiggle room in the shoe. The best shoes for toddlers should allow for a thumbs width between the toes and the tip of the shoe. This will ensure that the shoes are not too tight and will allow the child to go about their activities.

A common mistake made by most is buying shoes for a toddler that is a size bigger so that you can get a few extra months of wear out of them. You need to get the right size. When shoes are too big, the friction can cause the child’s foot to blister.

When it comes to kid’s shoes, trends are great but they should never be put over the child’s safety and comfort. That means no matter how cute the cowboy boots look, they are not your best bet. The pointy front, Complicated buckles, and sharp accessories are not in the child’s best interests.

Check on the material the shoe is made of. The best are made of canvas, cloth or soft leather. Anything that allows the child’s foot to operate as naturally as possible. Also, make sure that the shoes have good treads. They should not be smooth.

Your child’s first shoes should be new. Let your little bundle of joy be the first to break them in. Hand me downs are not the best choice for a first shoe. Finally, never underestimate how well children can make choices. Take your child with you to buy shoes. Allow your child to tell you which shoes are more comfortable for him or her.

Final Thoughts

Get your child the right shoes for their new adventure in elementary. You want to make sure that the shoes are not just comfortable, but that they allow the child to explore and play and be a child without having to worry about their shoes. The right shoes can make all the difference. There are a few factors to consider and we hope this review helps you make a wiser decision for your child’s feet. Happy shopping!

Buyer’s Guide

Narrow feet can be a nuisance when the wrong shoes are worn. The frustration is heightened when the wearer is a child. You do not want your child to be slipping in their shoes because they are not made for people with narrow feet. It may seem like the child is clumsy but sometimes it is just because the feet are ill-fitting. Give your child a fair shot.

How Can you Tell If your Child Has Narrow Feet?

You may be wondering why your child seems to be uncomfortable in his or her shoes. It may be because the shoes do not fit properly, it is not always about getting a shoe that is bigger or smaller in size, sometimes it is about the width of the wearer’s foot. But how do you know if the shoe width does not match your child’s foot? When your child tries on a shoe and there is a lot of extra space around, especially at the sides, then you know your child has narrow feet.

With your child’s shoes on, check if there is too much extra space (extra material) in the front part of your child’s shoes. Do you notice in the picture below how there is a lot of extra space in the front of the shoes? This means that the shoes are too wide for your kids’ feet.

How do you measure the length of a child’s foot?

The best way is to go with the child to a professional and get his or her foot measured. You can also do this at home. You will need a piece of A4 paper. Place it flat on the floor, against the wall. Then have your child stand up firmly against the wall, and get them to stand up tall with their heel firmly against the wall. Ensure they are evenly weighted bearing and not balancing on one foot. Next, put a mark in front of the child’s longest toe. This is normally the first or second toe. Now measure the distance from the back to this point. Be sure to make sure you keep the measure straight. Repeat this process for the other foot. Remember that ultimately, nothing beats trying on the shoe in person.

How do you measure the width of a child’s foot?

The first thing you want to do, just as with measuring the length of the foot,  trace around your child’s bare foot onto a piece of paper. Then measure the foot at the widest part of the foot. This number will help you find the right-sized shoe. Most shoes have measurements on the label and this includes the width of the foot. read this label, compare it to the figures you have from measuring the shoe and then get the child to try the shoe on, this is vital.

What are other parents saying?

Find out what other people are saying and the reviews online and in person. Reviews will help you hear what other people say about particular brands. Some brands fit differently even though they may all be marketed for narrow feet. Sometimes, the experience is the best teacher. The great thing about online shopping is that you get to hear from people across the globe about the same product.

Does the material the shoe is made of matter?

It truly does. Because your child has feet that are narrower than others, it means that you have to have shoes that hug the feet. Leather is soft and can give your child’s feet the tender love that they need.

Final Thoughts

Finding your child the right shoes can make a world of difference in the way your child walks, runs and goes about their business. Narrow feet do not have to be the reason why this does not happen. All you need is to be able to buy the right size shoes. We hope that our research and top picks, point you in the right direction and keep a smile on both your face and your child’s. Happy shopping!

How to Label School Shoes

Are you looking for the best way to label school shoes?

  1. You may have a child going off to boarding school and you need to label his or her shoes
  2. Or perhaps you need to make sure your child’s shoes are marked

When I was about 8 years old, I left home for school with my school uniform and a sports kit. Only to return with neither. I had changed into casual clothing after sports and placed both my uniform and sports kit into my bag. We never recovered them. Years later, I frequented the lost property and recovered several items that I had misplaced. The key difference? It came down to labelling the shoes just right.

Regardless of why you are looking for a way to label your child’s school shoes, you will need to find ingenious inconspicuous ways to do so. It is pretty easy for school shoes to go missing, especially when the classroom is a busy one. There are various types of labels on the market, you will need to know which ones make sense for your child’s shoes. They come in different shapes and colours. They will do well to put a smile on your child’s face when they see their name marked on their shoes.

Labels are made by different manufacturers to appeal to children of different age groups, all while being functional at the same time. You can get them as stickers, shoestring labels, personalized stick-on dots, iron-on labels, waterproof labels and so much more. They all serve the same purpose, to help the child identify their shoes. However, they are made with different wearers and environments in mind.

In a Hurry?

Are you in a hurry and want to know which labels to look for? Heres a quick guide. Labels are made for different types of shoes. You need to look for labels that match the shoes your child will be wearing. This, of course, depends on the type of label you will get. You want to get a durable label. It should have some protective cover of some sort, that allows the child to wear the shoe without the label wearing off. If you were to look on the inside of any shoe, anything printed on the inside will fade off after a few wears. The point of getting a label is so that your child can identify the shoes easily. But this will be of no use if the label has worn off.  It also helps to get labels that can withstand water and weather elements. If you will be getting a label that sticks on the insole of the shoe then you need to make sure that the sizes are compatible. We have done our research and found some of the top picks on the market.

EZ Kids Clothing Labels Self-Stick No-Iron Write-On

One of the main things that we look for in clothing labels is their ease of use. This is what EZ stand for. These labels are foolproof. They are produced in the USA. The material used is a type of polyester that is designed with durability in mind. The manufacturer ensured that the finish would sit subtly on any material that it is placed on. It is this finish that allows you to write directly onto the label. What we found to be impressive about these labels is that even when you use a regular pen with regular ink, they do not fade away easily. Once the ink has dried up, it takes a while for it to come off. That makes your shoes safe in school. They are unlikely to come into contact with water, which leaves fewer things that can erase the label.

Pros

  • The labels are very easy to use.
  • They do not rub off easily.
  • They are waterproof.
  • Can be applied on all sorts of surfaces.
  • You can write directly onto the label.
  • They are decent sized.
  • They are durable.

Cons

  • They need time to dry.

Avery No-Iron Fabric Labels

Avery is another great pick for labels. They are designed for fabric. We can confirm that this does not diminish their performance when it comes to shoes. They allow you the option of writing directly onto the label. Once that is done, you would simply peel the label and stick it onto the desired surface. You will also be pleased to know that the label is safe to be placed in a washing machine and dryer without falling apart. This is less relevant when it comes to school shoes, seeing as most of us will not be putting them in a washing machine or a dryer. The ink may start to fade after several washes. At which point, you would simply have to rewrite it. This is a label that works on shoes are other surfaces as well.

Pros

  • The label is easy to use.
  • It works on all sorts of surfaces.
  • Can be relabeled if it fades away.
  • It is very durable.
  • Can be put through a washing machine and dryer.

Cons

  • May smear when labelled with a permanent marker.

Stick ‘n Wash No-Iron Self Adhesive Name Labels

No one likes the idea of having to sew a label onto clothing. Well, when it comes to shoes this is not much of an option anyway. That is one of the things that the Stick ‘n Wash No-Iron self-adhesive name labels highlight. It is a feature that they share with others on our list. Each pack is sold with either 30, 60 or 120 labels. That gives you a reasonable number of labels to choose from depending on how many things you have to label. The label is designed to be stuck existing labels on clothes or on the inside of a shoe. The insole sees a lot more friction, so I would advise placing it on the upper part of the shoe. There is room to write three lines of text on each label.

Pros

  • They come prelabeled.
  • The stickers are very easy to use.
  • They are durable.
  • They do not rub off with use.
  • There are various colours to choose from.
  • You can put 3 lines of text on each label.

Cons

  • You don’t get to write on the labels yourself.

Lil’ Labels Clothing Labels

Our final pick shares the same features as the other options on our list. It does not require an iron to get it to stick on a surface. If you guessed that it can be washed and ironed without affecting the label, you are absolutely right. The nature of the peel and stick labels is that they are versatile. You can use them on most of your possessions. The going wisdom is to permit 24 hours before washing when you have just labelled it. This gives it time for the ink to settle and become somewhat permanent. You are encouraged to use a felt-tip permanent marker. The surprising thing about this label is that the long you leave it stuck on a surface the more difficult it is to remove.

Pros

  • Applying the labels is straightforward.
  • They are washing machine and dryer safe.
  • They are easy to write on.
  • There is plenty of room on each label.
  • You can stick them on all sorts of fabrics.

Cons

  • There have been reports of some coming off during a wash.
  • Need 24 hours to dry properly.

MINE Textile Stamp

The stamp is a simple way to label shoes and all sorts of textiles. There is a white thermal ribbon that is ideal for darker fabrics. The process is slow to get going in comparison to the write and stick option that the others offer. There are a total of 216 characters included. You have a tweezer that is to be used to place the letters. This stamp allows you to personalise the name and label for your child’s shoes. It comes with an ink pad that covers up to 1000 stampings.

Pros

  • It comes with enough ink for 1000 stamps.
  • Can be personalised.
  • It is easy to use.
  • It is not too bold.

Cons

  • It is not as easy as the other option.
  • Needs to be reapplied after clothes are washed several times.

How to use it: What others say

So my little boy is starting reception in September
and I'm feeling very emotional about it. But
anyway, I've sorted out all of his uniform
and obviously I've got to label it because
it costs a freaking fortune. So I'm going
to show you what I've got. They're all off
of a website called Easy2Name, I'll put the
link down below. It's literally the top thing
in Google, so that's just what I ordered.
The first thing that I got was like quite
a basic thing that everyone probably had when
they were children as well, it is the iron
on name strips. So they just come in strips
and I've cut them up and you can obviously
iron them onto the clothing. With these ones,
in some of the more expensive items of clothes,
like the blazer and things like that, I have
also stitched round just for extra security.
These are the kind of labels that I've been
using for ages in his nursery clothes and
 preschool clothes already.
I've got a few of these credit card things
that show their name. They're perfect for
like their gym bag and things like that and
I also see a lot of children will have that,
but then also have a big key chain of like
a minion or you know some sort of stuffed
animal key chain, so that they can easily
identify their bag. I really like that. You
could choose from different little icons.
I just chose footballs, but for girls there
was like flowers and princesses and all kinds
 of different things.
Also got something that I'm very excited about
and I sound like a real geek now. Got a stamp
with his name on it and it's basically a fabric
stamp, so it will stamp his name onto any
item of clothing that I want it to or onto
anything. I've used it to stamp his name onto
his lunch box as well. You can use it on paper,
you can use it on labels, you can use it on
fabric you use on anything. It's completely
washable, so once you stamp something, the
ink is going to stay on it.
From my little tests of what I've done so
far, I've stamped onto papers and labels very
easily, more easily than it does to fabric.
But if you had an item of clothing that you
wanted to stamp on the fabric, you could,
as long as you stand two or three times. This
is great because it's so quick for us moms,
it's just like stamp, done. I'm literally
going stamp crazy around the house.
Also, if someone did pick up the wrong item
of clothing or if someone wanted the wrong
item of clothing, I'm not saying that's going
to happen at his school at this age, but you
could easily cut out a tag or un-sew a tag,
couldn't you? But if this stamp was stamped
right onto the fabric, it'll be really hard
to say that, that was your item of clothing.
So I don't know, I just liked it. I'm even
going to stamp his shoes. I'm just going to
 go stamp crazy.
And labels for his Tupperware and lunchbox
and things like that. You can get these, but
my son is also allergic to peanuts, so I got
the allergic to peanuts ones. I've got the
no nuts ones, yeah. So it's like, "Fraser
Norris. I am allergic to peanuts." It's also
dishwasher safe. You don't have to worry about
these coming off in the dishwasher. So I just
thought that they were really handy as well.
I hope you'd like some of these ideas and
it wasn't completely boring. There are so
many labels that you can get nowadays. It's
crazy, you can get special shoe ones. You
can get special sock ones, you can get all
kinds of different… Like just ones that
stick on like sticky tape. They looked really
good, but then I decided to get the stamp
 over those, but yeah.

Buyer’s Guide

There are different ways that you can label your child’s shoe. There are several factors you need to consider when you are looking for the perfect labels.

Why is a shoe label so important?

When you are looking for a school uniform for your child, you will notice that the shoes are usually the most expensive. This means they are also the most annoying to replace when they get lost. You want to avoid your child from losing them. However, sometimes it is easier said than done. School shoes are often taken on and off for different reasons. Kids have different activities they engage in at school, that require them to remove their shoes. When the activities are done, the child has to put the shoes back on and sometimes this is where the possibility of losing a shoe comes in. t can be difficult to identify whose shoe is whose because school shoes are the same. Even if your child is careful, it is easy to confuse identical shoes. This is when you will need to have a good means of identification. It is also wise to make sure shoes are not swapped for hygienic reasons.

What to look for in a good shoe label?

There are a few factors that will influence the type of label you buy.  For example, look for a label that is made of quality vinyl and sticks well. These are two very important factors to think about. The shape of the label needs to offer the least resistance and allow the sticker to stay in place for the longest period. Stickers with an oval shape or rounded corners are usually the best.

It may sound like a nonentity, but the font size and how it is written is important. The child needs to be able to read the label. The design should also allow all the necessary details to be on it, such as a phone number. Some manufacturers also sell the labels with clear covers. Thes will help protect the label.

Does the type of shoe matter when choosing a label?

Some labels are made to fill out the shoe’s insole. It is important if you are getting this type of shoe label, that you know the dimensions of the shoe. An easy way to do this is to take the insole of the child’s school shoe. Match it with the label and this way you know that the label will fit the shoe. If you are buying a label for a shoe to be worn in any season with water or moisture then you must get a label that can withstand water. Look for waterproof versions.

What type of labels do I get if my child can not read yet?

You can help your child along by getting labels in hos or her favourite colour. Before your child can read, they can identify colours and objects. You can use labels with a particular colour. Say your child likes the colour yellow, you can put yellow stickers with the child’s name on them, on everything the child owns including school shoes. Your child will associate the colour with the shape of letters spelling out his or her name. With time, the child will recognize the sticker and what it spells out.

Final Thoughts

The best school shoe labels will help your child keep track of his or her shoes. Help your child by getting an easily recognizable label. We hope that our top picks help you find the best way to label your child’s shoes. Happy shopping!

Are you looking for the best school shoes for kindergarten? Children will be children, and there are no limits to the number of things they will try. Starting school may have started as a rough trip because your child did not know what was in store for them. However, as soon as they got the hang of it and made friends, you could not tear them away from the playground. Giving your little kid the best shoes is essential. The needs may differ for the younger kids. Keep that in mind.

The playground can be pretty rough, on your kid’s knees and their clothes. Children want to explore their new environment. You need to allow them if they are to learn how to handle themselves. The playground is a great place to learn various lessons. Do your child a favour and equip him or her for the world ahead. The shoes your child wears to the playground is an excellent place to start. You need to ensure that your child is well protected. Consider leaving wiggle room in the toe box. Rubber soles are also a great feature to have. Let us cut the shoe shopping curve for you.

In a Hurry?

Are you in a hurry and wondering which shoes for school make the most sense for your child’s first day in school? Here is a quick guide. Look for shoes for the child well. If they are too big or too small, they can cause great discomfort and not allow the child to explore and develop. This can be caused by the child being self-conscious. Don’t dash your child’s confidence before he or she even has a chance to learn how to interact with other children. Also, ensure that the shoes are made of a material that is comfortable and will not bruise the child or be too rigid. Look for shoes that have safety in mind. They may be cute or pretty, but if they are not safe, step away fast!

New Balance Kids’ 680V5 Hook and Loop Running Shoe

The good thing about kids school is that there is not much of a school uniform. Without that relaxed manner, our little ones would be missing out on this amazing shoe. The first notable characteristic that they have is the combination of the laces with the hook and loop system. This works wonders when your little one is still learning to do his/her own laces. You have the peace of mind in knowing that even if the shoes were to be removed, they could put them back on with the use of the secondary system. Laces are a bit more difficult to get the hang of. Beyond that, their upper is made of synthetic and textile material. The sole is made out of synthetic material that has a rubbery feel to it. It is a material that provides ample underfoot protection.

The shaft rises up to the low from the child’s arch. The EVA midsole is injected. This is one way to ensure quality control in the standard of the products that they produce. The shoe’s heel is what the manufacturer calls ABZORB heels. They are known to provide crash pad cushioning. Your child has support and protection as he or she runs around in the playing area. This is a brand that has been at the forefront of product development for athletes and others. One of the things that make them stand out from the crowded market is their commitment to product research and development as opposed to garnering more sales through marketing ploys such as celebrity endorsements. I am sure that is not something that matters much to your little one.

Pros

  • The shoes are very comfortable.
  • They provide great underfoot protection.
  • The heel absorbs impact.
  • There is a great selection of colours for kids.
  • They are durable.
  • They have a good velcro strap.

Cons

  • Durability not great for extensive use.
  • The sizes tend to run small.
  • More could be done about quality control.

Keds unisex-child Ella Mary Jane Sneaker

If you have not heard about Keds, that’s alright. They have only been around since 1916! Where have you been? They are one of America’s very first athletic and lifestyle brands. Converse Kids’ Chuck Taylor All Star 2v Low Top Sneaker

The great thing about established brands like the Converse is that you seldom have to second guess yourself. They carry an iconic look and design that we have all become familiar with. Whether you are a fan or not, one thing we cannot deny is that they are perfect for toddlers. This is a shoe that is lightweight and comfortable. Once those two critical boxes are ticked, we may then consider the aesthetic side of things. They excel in this regard as well. There is nothing in particular that we can say makes this design work. Perhaps this is a great example of simplicity being key!

The shoe is 100% textile. While that means they do not provide protection from water, it also means that they are very flexible. Each foot can move without hindrance. Your child can move at will. The soles are made out of rubber. You will know that this will deliver incredible traction as they move about. The shaft measures low-top from the child’s arch. They are secured by a double hook and loop closure that allows for ease of wearing and removal of the shoes. Saucony Kids’ Baby Jazz H&l-K Sneaker

If a uniform is not a concern, here is another top pick for you. It is an exciting design that your child will like. This is a design that is identical to the adult version, the Jazz HL. They are very comfortable shoes. There are two parts that make up the upper part of the shoes. These are the suede and mesh upper material that combined. They sit on a rubber outsole that delivers great stability as well as durability. What we loved the most was that they are easy to put on and to remove. This is down to the hook and loop alternative closure. It delivers the ability to adjust them to be as tight or as loose as you would like them around each foot. This gives you room to get the perfect fit.

adidas Toddler Baseline Shoes

There are not many Adidas designs that are as iconic as this one is. Just the 3 stripes laid on a plain shoe. Your child may be too young to weigh into what is iconic and what is not, but they can sure appreciate other aspects of this shoe. The upper part of the shoe is made of leather. This is a sign that they will be somewhat weatherproof. Not entirely, but they’d generally do a better job than most synthetic shoes would. The shaft of the shoe measures low top from the child’s arch. These shoes were designed to fit seamlessly into your child’s day to day life. They provide the comfort and support that the hyper world of kids life demands. If white is not your little’s colour, there are other colours that you can choose from. This is hinged on a loose uniform code at the school.

With the synthetic leather upper, you are assured of a pair of shoes that can take punishment. Children are not known for their caring nature of their shoes. And they shouldn’t be. They should instead have a shoe that supports them as they explore. For fastening, you have a two hook and loop closure strap system. It makes it very easy to put the shoes on and to remove them. This allows your child some independence, if and when they desire it. For the ones that are always on the move, having traction under their feet is of utmost importance. That is where the rubber cupsoles come to the rescue. They create sufficient friction as the child moves, keeping them from sliding and falling. The 3-stripes and the heel patch are all made of synthetic leather. If the version with the shell toe is available, I would strongly encourage you to get that one. Not only does it provide more protection for the toes. It also makes that region a little more durable.

Pros

  • The shoes are easy to put on and to remove.
  • They generally run true to size.
  • No one could fault their aesthetics.
  • They also accommodate wide feet.
  • They are durable.
  • There are several designs to choose from.

Cons

  • They tend to be stiff.

Buyer’s Guide

Your child’s first day in kindergarten is hard enough. The child has to adjust to a new environment, new people and a new routine. It may also be the first time that he or she is apart from you for such a long time. You do not want to add to this stress, by letting your child wear ill-fitting shoes. Be sure to look for shoes that will allow your child to run around. This means they need to be durable and comfortable. Many brands promise these qualities, but it is not all that deliver. Find out what other parents are saying. Most kids will not be shy in letting you know they do not feel comfortable in shoes. Research for reviews person and online and see which brands are leading the pack. You will also do well to ensure that the shoes fasten securely and not only that but that the child can put the shoes on and take them off by themselves.

Do toddlers need Clarks Shoes?

Well, they do not need Clark shoes. However, here is why they are good. Clarks shoes are great for kids because they are experts in the craft of making shoes for children. Clarks have been studying the biomechanics of kid’s feet for more than seventy years. Clarks have been making shoes for children for so long, they understand how children grow into their shoes and what is necessary. It is not about being loyal to a brand as it is about sticking to a brand that understands children’s feet.

Do toddlers need shoes with arch support?

Arch support is meant to help with flat feet and any pain that the wearer may be feeling in the feet. Flat feet in children are pretty common. Flat feet are pretty common in infants and toddlers. Generally, children’s feet are flexible and should not be stiff. As your child learns to walk, the foot muscles strengthen and the fat pads in the arch will not be as visible. Normal arches should develop in the child’s foot by the time he or she reaches the age of six.

However, you may want to know when you should be worried. When your child begins to complain about being tired and their feet hurting after a short time of standing, you need to look into it more seriously. Sometimes you will find your child trying to find ways to stay off their feet. Seeing your child’s feet flatten out when they stand is not an immediate red light. Look for other signs and symptoms before you start looking for shoes with extra arch support. The fat pad in the baby’s feet is what provides the arch support that your child needs. Your baby can do very well with a bit of extra padding in their shoes. However extra arch support is not necessary.

Is it OK for toddlers to wear used shoes?

Raising kids is not cheap! And if you are on your second or third child then you probably have several shoes that are sitting around from your first child. There is absolutely nothing wrong with kids wearing used shoes as long as these are not the first pair they ever wear. It saves on money and you can get great brands at a fraction of the price. Used shoes just need to be in good condition.

Are soft-soled shoes better for toddlers?

The best thing for toddlers is to allow them to walk barefoot as much as possible. They need to feel the ground and allow their feet to have a natural interaction with the ground. However, your little bundle of joy will need to go out of the house in shoes at some point. When they do, they must have the same feeling as if they are walking barefoot. Your toddler’s shoes should resemble them walking in shoes that resemble walking as close to the ground as possible.

How do I choose my baby’s first shoes?

Get your baby’s feet measured by a trained professional and then every 2 to 4 months to allow room for growth. Also, try to look for shoes that have natural linings nad socks with high natural fiber to allow them to breathe. Check that the shoes have the right fastening. Remember to never force your child’s foot into a shoe without unfastening them.

Final Thoughts

Your child deserves to know to feel secure and comfortable throughout the day. The shoes you buy will play a big role in this. Look for shoes that are not just cute but also comfortable and secure. Also, make sure that the shoes are appropriate for the weather. You don’t want to buy winter shoes for the hotter summer months. With the various options available on the market, you must know how to sift through them. We hope that our picks help you choose a pair that is best for your little bundle of joy. For the big kid, you may want to consider brands such as stride rite. Key features such as a memory foam footbed. Happy shoe shopping!

Deer Stags Stadium Sneaker Bottom Dress Comfort Slip-On

Deer Stags is not a new brand on the scene. Their first shoe preceded the Second World War. They have been going strong since 1929. This is a brand that has been passed from one generation of the family to another. What they have been able to do is maintain the ethos of the business. Everything that you would have loved about the first versions is still available on the newer ones. You will also note marked improvement in line with newer technology and innovation. One of their key features is the patented S.U.P.R.O technology that is built to reduce the chances of slipping. The upper part of the shoe is synthetic, as is the sole. Well, the upper part is made out of synthetic leather. The heel gives you an elevation of just an inch. They are not quite zero drop, but neither are they high heels.

One of the distinguishing features of this one is flexibility. These shoes do not have the restriction that we often associate with formal shoes. They are closer to the feel of sports shoes. This is a feature that your boy will love. Instead of having to tie your laces, these ones are secure by twin gores. Your foot slides in with ease and remains secure as long as you have the shoes on. The inner collar of the shoe is padded. This is always said to provide extra comfort. I am not sure just how much comfort this brings. Anyhow, you let us know what your experience is. There is also padding perfectly placed to ensure that there is less friction between the heel and the shoe. As a result, there are fewer chances of irritation and blistering.

Pros

  • They are very easy to put on.
  • The inner is well padded.
  • They provide sufficient grip.
  • They are surprisingly flexible.
  • The shoes are very comfortable.
  • You will love the richness of their colour.

Cons

  • Some durability concerns have been noted.
  • Certainly not the prettiest shoes you’ll encounter.

Vivobarefoot Primus School

Our final pick is a barefoot shoe. This is for those that prefer the minimalist approach to things. The biggest advantage of these type of shoes over other is that your child’s feet are permitted to move as nature intended them to. These are these sort of shoes that do not feel as if you are wearing shoes at all. The design is described as being compact and minimal. Don’t let this fool you. The shoes are geared to take on all sorts of terrain. They will not fall apart at the first sign of a challenge. The look makes them versatile enough to seamlessly transition from formal occasions to the more casual ones.

As far as the key features are concerned. The outsoles are made of multi-hexagonal lug designs that provide your child with all of the grip that they may desire. There are no concerns as to durability. The upper part of the shoes is made out of African leather hide from free-roaming animals. That always guarantees strong material.

The final and perhaps most important feature of these shoes is the ultra-thin puncture-resistant layer. It is said to be 5 times more resistant to punctures than a standard sole of similar thickness.

Pros

Buyer’s Guide

When out shopping for the new school year, it can be pretty easy to get lost in the options available. It may seem overwhelming, but it is not impossible. All you need to do is to ask the right questions so that you get the answers you are looking for.  If you remember going shopping for your first pair then you will remember how many questions were asked by your parents or whoever you were with. This was all for a good cause.

How much room should a child have in their shoes?

Children grow pretty fast. This is one of the reasons why you need to buy new school shoes almost ever so often. Their shoe size stops growing so fast when they reach a certain age. However, during the phase when your son is still growing like a weed, you will need to make sure that the shes you get, leave some room for growth. When a shoe is new, it needs to leave the space of a thumbs width between the end of the longest toe and at the end of the shoe. This should be about 12 to 14 millimeters. Shoes with less than half a thumb width space should be replaced.

How can I measure my child’s feet at home?

If you want to measure your child’s feet a home, there are easy ways to do this. The first thing you want to do is to make sure that your child is wearing his normal socks. This allows you to measure the total amount of space left in the shoe when the child is fully dressed for school. Now push your children to heel to the back of the shoe and do the velcro or laces up firmly. Make sure the child is standing up straight and tall then check the length by feeling the position of your child’s longest toe in the shoe.

You can also measure by removing the insole from the shoe. Stand your child’s foot on it with their heel at the back. If their toes bulge over sides or end of the in-sole their shoe won’t fit. There should be one thumb from the end of the toe to the edge of the insole when shoes are new. If there is less than half a thumb width of the room, you need to be thinking of where to buy a new pair.

What’s the difference between a toddler and little kid shoes?

the marvel of modern-day shopping is that you can do it online. This is great but it has its downfalls. Since you can’t physically see the shoes, it means that you may be under or overestimating the size. Look for a size age chart. This will help you know what size your child should be wearing, depending on his age.

How do you get scratches out of patent shoes?

You can simply use what you have around the house, like petroleum jelly. Dab a bit of it on to any scratches on your leather, it will help remove any stains and prevents the leather from cracking in harsh weather. You can also pour some mineral oil on a soft cloth and rub it on the leather. Another route you can choose is applying a silicone-based patent leather conditioner with a soft cloth to remove scratches.

Will grass stains come out of shoes?

Depending on the material the shoes are made of, you can get grass stains out of shoes. You can use a damp washcloth. Sneakers, for example, do well with vinegar and water as stain removers. Laundry detergents and soap also do a great job of removing grass stains.

Final Thoughts

Little boys have a very active school life. You want to make sure that the school shoes you get him, will take him through the day. We certainly hope that our top picks have helped you make a decision on which boys school shoes to buy. Happy shopping!
