Buyer’s Guide

How do you assemble the Philips AVENT Double Electric Comfort Breast Pump?

Assembling the pump is fairly easy. Simply wash all the non-electrical parts thoroughly, and sterilize them separately. Make sure that your hands are clean before you handle all the parts that you have cleaned. Then insert the white valve into the pump body from underneath and then push it in as far as you can.

The next step is to screw the pump body onto the bottle so that you collect the milk in there. Make sure that you screw the pump body clockwise and also that it is tight, with no room for leaks. Now you can place the silicone diaphragm into the pump body. Do this from above and make sure that it fits securely.

Then place the comfort massage cushion into the funnel section of the pump body. Make sure that it is securely placed, and that it is comfortable for you when you begin to pump. You may want to run your fingers through the petals and ensure that there is no trapped air.

Then plug the adaptor into the wall and the other end into the pump. Now attach the silicon tube and tap into the diaphragm. Make sure that the cap is secured and in place.

Repeat the procedure for the second pump. Once you have placed the cushion in the suction pump, you want to make sure that you keep it covered and clean. Use the cap to close it.

The base unit can also operate on batteries if you are using the single pump. To replace these batteries, all you will need to do is turn the base over, open the cover, and replace them. A set of four double-A batteries will give you up to 3 hours of pump time.

What is the difference between let down mode and expression mode on breast pumps?

It is important for you to know the difference between the letdown mode and the expression mode. Let down mode is when your baby sucks at a certain pace, to try to get your milk to come down. In expression mode, there is more milk that is expressed.

The two modes mimick the way your baby would naturally suck. It is usually fast at first, to get the milk to come down, and then they usually slow down at this point as there is now a steady flow of milk.

These two modes operate in the same manner and knowing the difference between the two helps a great deal. You want to always start with the letdown mode and then switch to expression mode. Some breast pumps, automatically switch from let down mode to expression mode.

What size diameter should I choose?

It may seem like this is of no consequence, but you need to make sure that you get a breast pump with the right diameter for your nipple size. If you have a small nipple, you don’t want to get a breast pump with a wide funnel diameter.

Philips AVENT Double Electric Comfort Breast Pump has 2 cushions with different diameters. This enables women with different sized nipples to use the pump. The wider it is the bigger your nipple should be. Otherwise, it just will not work properly.

The  Philips AVENT Double Electric Comfort Breast Pump comes with a 25mmm cushion and a 19.5mm cushion. You buy these separately and this gives you some choice in the matter. Whilst you can not change the diameter of the funnel, the cushion which you can insert, gives you the chance to not only have a more comfortable time pumping
